Examinations for Language Positions
The Secretariat offers competitive examinations for language positions (translators, editors, verbatim reporters, interpreters, proofreaders, etc.) on a regular basis. Examinations are required for full-time career positions only.
Click here to see the examinations currently open or planned for the current year, or click on previous years to check the status of past examinations. For each examination, you will see the full notice with all the eligibility requirements and instructions on how to apply. We regret that we do not accept applications for future examinations if the application period is not open. Keep checking our web site and apply only when the application period is open and if you meet all the eligibility requirements.
The web site is our main means of communication with candidates who have applied, so be sure to check our page regularly for updates and announcements for convocation status and examination progress.
Remember to visit our Frequently Asked Questions on the left before you contact us with questions. Our resources are limited and you are likely to get the answers to your questions much faster by checking our web site and the FAQ link.

"Although there are now all sorts of opportunities for alternative language training, such as traveling abroad, I would suggest receiving as much formal language training as possible before you start your career at the United Nations." | | | Ms. Alice Harrison | | Ms. Alice Harrison |
