Welcome, MoU Network Members!

This portion of the web site has been developed to serve as a virtual platform for cooperation between the United Nations and the universities that signed Memorandums of Understanding on Cooperation in Training of Candidates for Language Competitive Examinations (MoUs) with the Organization. Confronted with increasing shortages of qualified conference interpreters and conference translators for certain language combinations, the United Nations places a high priority on facilitating a dialogue between all MoU network members, including universities and language services at the UN Headquarters, duty stations and regional commissions. The site also will allow all the network members to identify and share good practices in teaching translation and interpretation, as well as to discuss common challenges, problems and possible solutions.

This page has been designed as a password-protected area, so that all involved parties might consider posting their copyright-protected materials, such as programme curricula, class syllabi, course modules, workshop documents, sets of exercises, teaching materials, sound recordings for practicing interpretation, texts for translation, terminological and reference materials and programme prospectuses.

Designated university officials, instructors and language professionals from the United Nations will be able to share with their colleagues worldwide information on end-of-course examinations, forthcoming conferences, departmental events, career fairs, schedules of pedagogical assistance, seminars for the trainers/ instructors, lecture series and master-classes. Users will also be able to learn about training offered by universities to the United Nations language staff.

We strongly believe that the space provided for sharing ideas and training materials will enhance the cooperation envisioned in Memorandums of Understanding that were signed within the framework of a succession planning strategy, adopted to replenish the language services through the replacement of retiring staff with qualified and talented candidates.
